Missing Jane by Bronwen Chisholm

Missing Jane Cover BC

Hello All, wow July already!? How did that happen I wonder? But I am back, and so is one of my favourites authors who I have been reading privately for years, namely Bronwen Chisholm! Welcome to Bronwen and her newest book, “Missing Jane”

Blurb:

Mr Bennet is dead; his daughters “scattered to the winds,” according to Mrs Bennet.
And the eldest Miss Bennet? No one really knows.
Poor Mr Bingley is led to believe she is no more, but her sister swears she is alive.
Can Mr Darcy and his friend find her and, in turn, their own happily ever afters?

Review;

During the spring after Darcy’s horrid proposal in Kent. Darcy finally admits his fault to Bingley. To my utter surprise and enjoyment, Bingley actually asks Darcy to leave his home! I couldn’t help but giggle! Yeah, I was delighted that Bingley had the spine to get Darcy to leave! Finally, a Bingley who could stand up for himself, I thought!

When Bingley returns to Hertfordshire, Mr Bennet is dead and the Bennets spread to the four winds, – here I was nearly on the edge of my seat! Including the news that Jane was dead!!!! Omg, I gasped and literally screamed “WHAT?!” I was sure that Bronwen was having a laugh, and I was cursing her up and down my living room while reading in record time! It surely couldn’t be true?!

Luckily we finally see things from Jane’s POV and she has been found by a man from Wales who takes care of her while she is ill and recovers. I was quite surprised at the level of compassion and skill that Jane and her protector have for each other, on a compassionate sense of level.

Darcy is put right by Elizabeth in London and goes to Mr Gardiner to assist in the search for Jane. I couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief that Jane actually was alive, even if the premise of her being dead would have been interesting. Bronwen also introduces a new character, namely a rich aunt who is not only a matchmaker but also a very compassionate aunt to the Bennet girls.

But as always with Bronwen’s books and novellas, a happy ending is achieved in short order! And what a sweet and endearing ending!

I can definitely recommend this novella! It is worth it! Bronwen has a way of making her readers read her books or novellas in one seating.

  1. I like this review. I’m looking forward to reading this book but is this a rival for Bingley? Now I must be honest here, as long as Darcy and Elizabeth are together I’m not too bothered about other pairings!
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  2. Eager to know this rich aunt, and the reason for her long estrangement from the family.

Also curious with this new guy. Would Bronwen shatter the hopes of the solid CB-JB fans? 😉

    1. I did not really go into detail regarding the separation except to say the distance was too great, but we know Mr. Bennet – a bit lax in his correspondence and hates to travel. That probably is sufficient.
I think you will love Mr. Argall, and I did promise low angst. 😉
